The Challenge
On the occasion of the promotion of the single Medicine, featured on the Bring Me The Horizon’s sixth studio album Amo, SONY UK contacted us as a direct request from the group frontman Oliver Sykes to create and produce the music video.
Bring Me The Horizon has sold over 4 million records worldwide with their six studio albums released and have been nominated for two Grammy Awards.
The Music Video
Medicine goes about toxic relationships or toxic people and how they keep us trapped and absorb all our energy. This music video represents the feelings and emotions that someone can experience while going through a toxic relationship.
The video shows a 3D generated Oliver Sykes in a more real world versus another world that represents his memories and feelings. The animated face goes through this process of pain, lost, suffering, angriness and anxiety. It is a hypnotic and disturbing visual trip where viewers can see and experience extreme emotions and feelings.
The whole video is designed as a game of contraries where we can also distinguish two different visual languages: real world (dark aesthetic) vs memories and feelings world (pop and friendly aesthetic).
The Creative Process
The whole video is designed as a game of contraries where we can also distinguish two different visual languages. The video present a computer generated representation of singer Oliver Sykes in a more real world versus another version of him in a world of memories and feelings.
Imagined Real World
The sequences 1, 5 and 11 of the video represent an imagined real world where we see a more realistic computer generated version of Oliver Sykes in a dark environment.
All parts of the video includes at all times cuts where we see the different heads singing with the lips synchronized with the song.
World of Memories and Feelings
All other sequences of the video represent an imaginary world of memories and feelings in a world where the limits are pushed and we play with different frozen effects and poses.
In this world where memories and feelings are represented, a friendly and pop aesthetic is used as a contrast with the extreme and hard emotions and feelings of Oliver Sykes.

Video Sequence #2
Lyrics
Because I cut my teeth
and bit my tongue
til’ my mouth was dripping blood
but I never dished the dirt
just held my breath
while you dragged me through the mud
Description
We see two heads looking to each other (-both are Oliver Sykes-) turning around during all the sequence. With every turn of the heads, we alternate one face singing and another one with a frozen effect on its face (this represents a metaphorical memory or feeling).
Video Sequence #3
Lyrics
And you just can't quit
Why don’t you deal with it
I think it's time to stop.
Description
We see a broken skull. We discover Oliver Sykes looking through the hole and trying to get out of a skull. We see Oliver Sykes with blurry and dark cloud of humans floating around him (this humans represent the toxic people).
Video Sequence #5
Lyrics
Some people are a lot like clouds you know,
cos life’s so much brighter when they go.
I spent too long in a place I don’t belong
Description
We start the sequence with the end of sequence 1. We see the head of Oliver Sykes from the first sequence of the video. We see to hands holding the head. The hands start to lift the head up. We see the head singing. We discover that the teeth are small heads of Oliver Sykes which also sing the song. The two hands put the head on a body with no head (this represents his attempt to recover the life temporary lost).
Video Sequence #6
Lyrics
But you won't admit
Why don’t you get a grip
Cos you can't keep going on and on and on like this
No you just can't quit
Why don’t you deal with it
Description
We see Oliver Sykes face. The head is slowly looking down. Now we see his reflection in the mirror, we can see he is suffering. We see two heads almost kissing. We see very expressive eyes looking to each other.
Video Sequence #8
Lyrics
Because I cut my teeth
and bit my tongue
til’ my mouth was dripping blood
but I never dished the dirt
just held my breath
Description
We combine frozen effects and poses from green part 1 with new ones. We see two heads backwards (-both are Oliver Sykes-) turning around during all the sequence. With every turn of the heads, we alternate one face singing and another one with a frozen effect on its face (-this represents a metaphorical memory or feeling-).
